About melissa
Middle school is hard. For Melissa Yearta, watching her daughter navigate those years in the wake of COVID made that truth impossible to ignore. The isolation, the social pressures, the search for identity — it brought back her own memories of that pivotal age, and ignited a conviction that girls deserve better tools, stronger voices, and a community that believes in them. When her life partner — herself a part of the 4GIRLS family — introduced her to the organization, Melissa knew immediately she had found her people.
Melissa brings over a decade of B2B marketing and entrepreneurial experience to her work, leading demand generation and product marketing strategies for technology companies in regulated industries. She also runs her own consulting practice, partnering with brands on content strategy, SEO, and brand development. Her career has always centered on one core belief: that the right message, delivered with authenticity, can change how people see themselves and the world around them.
Melissa holds a Bachelor of Arts from UCLA, where she studied Sociology and Women's Studies with a specialization in LGBTQ Studies — a foundation that shaped her deep commitment to equity, empowerment, and amplifying underrepresented voices. As CFO and Treasurer of 4GIRLS, she is proud to put her skills toward something that matters close to home.
Residing in the Belmont Heights neighborhood of Long Beach with her partner and their two children, Hugo and Lola, Melissa is planting roots in a community she is already working to make stronger — one girl at a time.
